The Courer de Bois trade knife is named after the French "woods runners" who were prevalent in Colonial North America.  The larger-sized blade has a slight drop-point profile and is suitable for butchering, skinning, or any other wilderness tasks which require a sharp and functional knife to be ready at hand.  You could do well in the wilderness with this knife on your belt.
