Marttiini has manufactured knives in Rovaniemi, Finland since 1928. Marttiini tends to try to strike a balance between beauty, functionality, and ease of sharpening. The blades are not as tough as those from other Scandinavian knife makers, usually 53-54 Rockwell, which is still quite tough and they hold an edge very well. Most of the handles are curly birch, either natural, stained, or lacquered, but Marttiini also has some handles in modern materials like rubberized plastic. The Marttiini knives are also much more affordable than other Scandinavian knives.
