This would make a good knife for carving wood or bone. The ricasso (the squared portion ar the base of the blade) is not traditional, but does make it easier to get a tight fit between the base of the blade and the bolster/guard, which is important because you don't want any moisture getting inside your handle.
Here are the fittings that this blade can be paired with, based on the sizes of the blade, tang, and slot. Any fitting labelled "might be too small/big" will still fit the blade, but might not be a good match depending on the style of knife that you're making.
