Knives for Reenactment and Living History

Viking reenactment and knives for reenactment and living history

Keeping the Past Alive

Knives for reenactment and living history

Viking and Medieval reenactment and living history activities are enjoyed by a growing community of people who honor, learn from and recreate the culture of the Viking and Medieval eras through reenactment. The Medieval Period, or Middle Ages, spanned approximately from the 5th to the late 15th centuries in Europe. The Viking Age in Scandinavian history spanned from the 790s, which is the timeframe of the earlier recorded raids, to 1066 upon the Norman conquest of England.

The knives and axes used during those eras have been beautifully recreated. For example, the Norse Dragon Seax Knife is a tribute to Viking era knives. Seax is the Old English word for knife. This long and gorgeous Viking Seax, or knife, features inscriptions of runes and Celtic knotwork pattern embellishments. The Lost Roman Knife has blade profile similar to surviving Roman knives featured in museums with a carved handle. The Pictus Knife is designed in the style of the Celtish Picts, who homesteaded in Northern Scotland from ancient times until about the 10th century.

Axes were also popular tools. Viking axes were crafted for building and as common weapons and were specifically designed for such usage. Knives of the North sells a variety of Viking reenactment axes that function well for building a boat or stealing one! These modern-day Viking era replicas, such as the Viking Bearded Axe, are often used in contemporary axe throwing.
